my beloved Philadelphia Phillies beat the Boston Red Sox 5-0 tonight!
but wait, there’s more [said in Ronco voice]….
this marked the Phillies 50th win of the season, the most in the majors. in the process of reaching the half century mark, Phillies starter Cliff Lee pitched all 9 innings, thus obtaining his 3rd straight complete game shutout and his 32 consecutive inning of scoreless baseball. tonight’s 2 hit shutout also capped an unbelievable month of pitching for Lee who has only allowed 1 earned run in 42 innings on the hill. dominance!
to say i’m excited about the possibilities of the rest of this season with a guy like this throwing for us would be a gross understatement. here’s to the hope that our offense picks up the bats and gives the hurlers some run support the rest of the way.
